"How did you get started with your entrepreneurial journey?"
- This is a question that I've gotten asked a lot. I thought I'd share the timeline of my journey with you here. I've learned countless lessons throughout this roller coaster ride and I'm sure there are many more coming. I hope you can learn from my mistakes, as well as my successes so you can fast-track your own journey!
I can't even count how many businesses I tried to start growing up. I tried everything from selling watches at the local night market to selling hoverboards.
None of the ventures I tried were ever successful.
I remember in 2015, when I first saw the hoverboards trending on social media, I thought to myself, I can buy these from China for $300 each and sell them for $500 each. I put my last $5000 and bought 15 hoverboards. 10 of them ended up being defective
However through this hoverboard experience, I met a guy who sold products on Amazon. We partnered up and he ended up pushing some units on Amazon. That is when I discovered how to sell products on Amazon
I thought Amazon would just be another venture where I will try and fail. But I was still open minded enough to give it a shot.
At the beginning, it was tough. But things made sense. Amazon gave you all the customers, you just need to find a product and rank it to page 1. But the problem is I didn't know how to find products or rank to them.
After 2 failed product attempts, I wanted to quit. I said "Ah, Amazon isn't for me." But my girlfriend/business partner was the stubborn one and said, no let's give this one more shot.
I reached out to a few thought leaders in the area and asked them for help. They were willing to give me some tips and tricks that totally changed how I looked at the game.
In 2019, I had to honour and privilege to stand on stage and share my story with thousands of people in Vancouver.
Through these live events, I hope to inspire others to take action so they too can build their thriving Amazon FBA business!
